Andrew, our driver, took us with a Park Ranger for a full
day's trip through the bush. We saw lots of animals: literally hundreds
of zebra, impala, warthogs, waterbuck, and topi. We also saw several
troops of baboon and vervet monkey. Although Lake Mburo is home to a few
lions, they tend to go out at night and are rarely seen. In the 1930s,
many animals, such as elephants, were killed off is a misguided effort
to get rid of the tse-tse fly! Today, the herds of animals who live in
the Park are protected and healthy - and growing.
