A Visit to a Special Place
Bishop and Mrs. Stanton have supported the Sanyu Babies Home for many years. It has been a joy to see this home, founded in the 1920s, grow and develop over the last fifteen years. And it is wonderful to share the work of this volunteer community in the Diocese of Namirembe with visitors.
One of the newest developments is the gift shop, shown in Img 1. It raises funds to support this ministry.
Diane greets the Director of the Home (Img 2) and the team greets her (Imgs 3 - 5), and brings a contribution to her work.
Bishop Ray and Shirley Smith play with the children (Imgs 6 & 7). Lady Eileen Carey and the Archbishop do the same: Imgs 10, 14, 15, 17.
Joan Jecko, wife of the late Bishop Jecko, delights in the children (Imgs 12 & 13).
Diane gets a hug (Img 11 & 16), and regales the children with the story of Flat Stanley ((Imgs 19 & 20).
The children cared for here are orphans. Their parents may have died of AIDS/HIV, or have been victims in skirmishes along the northern border. But in this special place, they receive individual attention and tender care.
It is always a blessing to spend time with these little ones, and those who care for them.
